We also visited a pharmacy to buy ointment to bring out the bruising from Greg's torn hamstring which is healing slowly.
Euros15 is a bit steep for one load of washing, but there's the convenience. Drop it off, and we can go sight seeing around St. Marks for 2 hours while it's being done.
We were last here 40 years ago as kombi van travelling back-packers, although I really can't remember all that much about it.

But this time, there is, of course, again as in Milan, the masses of touists, tour groups and school groups to navigate and manage. There are also lots of stalls and hawkers, all selling the same things, scattered across the square.
Anne and Bob walked over to visit our little apartment and we had a simple lunch of hamproscuitto, cheese, salad and bread rolls. Our apt is small but we managed to fit four people around the table. We had to pull down the extra lounge seat that folds up to the ceiling above the entrance. The kitchen is hidden behind a cupboard and I love the dish rack in the cupboard above the sink.
In the afternoon Greg rested his leg and I went for a trip down the Grand Canal by vaporetto. It was a slow trip due to the amount of traffic including lots of tourist taking gondola rides. I hopped off at the Salute stop not far from where we are staying and visited Santa Maria della Salute on the point at the end of ' our street'.
So, a bit of sight seeing, a couple of vaporetto trips to fill in the day until our evening appointment - cicchetti and wine tour. Cicchetti is like an Italian equivalent of Spanish tapas, lots of small snacks to make up a meal. Also included was a short walking tour outlining some history of the Jewish section of Venice, the business area and the markets.
On the ciccheti tour, crossing the Grand Canal by traghetti, a large sized gondola-like boat that ferries people across where there is no bridge
